About the German 1870 through 1879 Immigration Archive
This site contains an extensive searchable database of records on 366,648 passengers who arrived at the United States between 1870 through 1879 and identified their country of origin or nationality as German or Germanic.
SCOPE of RECORDS : Included in the data are transcribed ship passenger arrival records of German travelers who were United States citizens or non-U.S. citizens. Among these are those planning to continue their travels, returning to the U.S., or staying in the U.S. We have records of passengers arriving at the following ports: Baltimore, Boston, New Orleans, New York, and Philadelphia; however most of the records are for passengers arriving at the Port of New York.

Use the alphabetic menu to browse by first letter of last name, or enter a search for first and/or last name. If you can't locate the name you're looking for, try searching by partial name (EG first few letters of last name).
If you can't locate a name, please note that we do not have all records available. Some data has been corrupted or lost over time and decades of data conversion, beginning with hand written cards, punch cards, tape, etc. - Also be aware that some names may have changed over time, or multiple names may be associated with an individual.
